Author whose biography is unknown and whose surname, as a toponym, is attested both in Portugal (Montalegre, Trás-os-Montes) and Galicia (Ourense). However, by the placement of his songs in the manuscripts, immediately following those by Count Dom Pedro of Barcelos and before other three Portuguese authors, as well as by the toponymic and anthroponymic references present in those songs, he should have been Portuguese and lived in the final 13th century and early 14th.
