Medieval troubadour
Bibliographic notes
Nothing is known about this author, except that he would have frequented the court of Alfonso X, as the exchange with Pero da Ponte seems to confirm. Since the songbooks don’t mention his family name, he might be one of the numerous Garcia Martins present in the Portuguese, Galician or Castillian documentation from the mid-13th century. But the existence of these homonyms and the fact that he only appears in the aforementioned poetical exchange makes his concrete identification difficult.Bibliographic references
