Medieval minstrel

Author whose biography is unknown. His placement in the songbooks, in the group of the Galician minstrels, seems to indicate that he was also one, his naturality apparently confirmed by a reference to a saint worshipped in Tui (Sam Treeçom), made in his only preserved song. In fact, Henrique Monteagudo (2013) discovered, in the documentation of the monastery of Melón, a personage who he believes could be this minstrel: a Johanne Fernandez dicto Golparro , who, together with his wife Marina and two (probable) nephews, sells, in April 1257, part of a farm to the said monastery, a farm located exactly in the vicinity of Tui. He certainly lived, therefore, between the middle and the end of the 13th century (like the rest of the minstrels in the group).Bibliographic references
